The form of the smartphone has hardly changed in 5 years. Produced from plastics and metals, they are bulky, boring, and hard to recycle. The miniaturized tech of tomorrow is super slim, lightweight and built with sustainability in mind.
The Solution
Inspired by Formula 1 technology, our designers believe the future is the adoption of monocoque design. Unlike a regular smartphone, a monocoque required no bulky internal frame and all components fit in one robust exo-skeleton, hidden only by the screen on top.
Thanks to Carbon's enabling HyRECM Technology, the world's first carbon fiber monocoque body was applied in the Carbon 1 MK II. The result is a dramatic reduction in size and weight. The first carbon fiber monocoque smartphone is 33% lighter and 25% thinner than the average competitor.
Sustainable Impact
Monocoque products are easy to repair, ensuring a longer lifespan of the device. At end of life, the carbon fiber body is easily broken down and unlike plastics and glass bodies, retains its high initial value.
A 33% decrease in weight also represents a significant reduction in carbon emissions during delivery.
